JNSQ Rosé Cru & Gerard Bertrand Côte de Rosé

Betrand-JNSQ-Rose

If the special someone in your life is a fan of rosé wines, we’ve got a couple of perfect choices or valentines day, each in a unique bottle.

The first is an old favorite of ours, first mentioned in last year’s “Summer Rosés” – Gerard Bertrand Côte de Rosé. The bottom of each bottle of this French Rosé has a unique rose-like pattern to the glass. Inside is a Rosé that special someone is sure to love. Reviews of Gerard Bertrand Côte de Rosé typically describe it as light and refreshing.

This second Rosé is featured on our website for the first time, JNSQ Rosé Cru. If you’re unfamiliar, the JNSQ is derived from the french phrase “je ne sais quoi“, used to describe something unique and exceptional. With its signature white rose stopper and elegant shape, the JNSQ bottle is designed to resemble luxury perfume. This superior Rosé is made in the french style from California grapes.

Enroute Winery – Les Pommiers Pinot Noir

en-route-pinot-noir

Our first featured wine for 2019 comes form California’s EnRoute Winery. Enroute exists to make Pinot Noir, though they do make a Chardonnay as well. With Pinot Noir in mind, the founders chose to focus on the Russian River Valley to build their vineyards and winery.

Les Pommiers is made entirely from Pinot Noir, and aged in french oak barrels for eleven months. The winery takes the name from the apple orchards that once stood where one one of the blends vineyards is now located.

Enroute’s tasting notes include:

“…Les Pommiers possesses the luxurious perfume aromatics and rich textures that we love about Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley. On the nose, aromas of ripe cherry and plum are complemented by notes of earth, sage and forest floor.”

Vintage after vintage of Enroute Les Pommiers consistently earn 90+ pt scores. Critics and enthusiast seem to agree, Les Pommiers is a fine example of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.

Black Chocolate Stout – Brooklyn Brewery

Brooklyn-Black-Chocolate-Stout

Our featured beer for January 2019 comes from New York City’s Brooklyn Brewery – Black Chocolate Stout. The brewery states that the chocolate comes from a carefully selected malt bill of 2-row, caramel malt, malted wheat and various American roasted malts. Additionally, two types of hops and an ABV of 10.0% complete this Russian Imperial Stout.

Brooklyn Brewery suggests this malty high alcohol brew is a good candidate for cellaring, or pairing with deserts, potent cheese and keeping warm.

The critics at Beer Advocate seem to agree Brooklyn has brewed this one right, with score of over 4/5 currently out of over 6,800 reviews.
